Also included are release notes describing any problems or issues with the software which were known at the time of shipment. **************************************************************************** * CONTENTS OF THIS DOCUMENT * **************************************************************************** This document contains the following sections: System Requirements De-installing the Software Troubleshooting Release Notes **************************************************************************** * SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS * **************************************************************************** HARDWARE: 1. The system must contain a supported processor and PIIX device as specified by the NOTE at the beginning of this document. 2. Ensure that a mouse is connected to the system. SOFTWARE: 1. Windows 95 is currently installed on the system. 2. The PIIX Bus Master IDE Driver for Windows 95 is currently installed. The De-Installer will check the System Requirements applied to the current system. The De-Installer will only execute on systems that meet the System Requirements. **************************************************************************** * DE-INSTALLING THE SOFTWARE * **************************************************************************** This procedure allows one to de-install the PIIX Bus Master IDE driver, and restore the default Windows 95 driver for IDE support. This de-install procedure is specific only to this version of the de-installer. Depending on the configuration of the system, subsequent re-installations of the Windows default driver may require an entirely new installation of the Windows 95 operating system. NOTE: Record the locations of the driver installation and Windows 95 directories before de-installing the driver. 1. Close any running applications. 2. De-install the PIIX Bus Master IDE driver. A. Execute the de-installer program. Run SETUP.EXE. B. Follow prompts to de-install the PIIX Bus Master IDE Device Driver. C. Select Yes when prompted to re-start Windows 95. 3. Install the default Windows 95 drivers when prompted to do so. A. Windows 95 will report that an IDE controller has been detected. Select the Windows default driver for installation. B. Select Yes when prompted to re-start Windows 95. **************************************************************************** * TROUBLESHOOTING * **************************************************************************** Issue: The De-Installer failed to de-install the driver. Cause: This may have been caused by one of the following: * The De-Installer was run previously but the system was not re-started. If this is the case, Re-Start the system. OR * The system did not meet the System Requirements. Refer to the 'System Requirements' section of the document for additonal information. Issue: The system does not operate reliably or fails to boot in NORMAL (non-safe) mode when the driver is de-installed. Cause: The default configuration needs to be restored. In this case, re-install Windows 95.
