The information in this article applies to: - Macintosh OS 8.6 - Macintosh OS 9.x MORE INFORMATION ================ The minimum requirements for connecting to MSN Internet Access are as follows: - Macintosh OS 9.x - A paying MSN Internet Access account - A modem with the minimum baud rate of 28.8 Kbps - Internet Explorer 5.x - Outlook Express 5.0.4 To obtain the local dial-up numbers for your area, follow the instructions on the following MSN Web site:https://rac.msn.com/popcheck/ To create a Remote Access connection in Macintosh OS 9.x 1. On the Apple menu, select Control Panels, and click Remote Access. 2. On the File menu, click Configurations. 3. Select any configuration listed, and then click Duplicate. 4. Type a name for the new configuration, and then click OK. 5. Select the configuration, and then click Make Active. 6. Click Registered User, and then type your MSN e-mail address in the Name box as MSN/Member_ID@msn.com. (example: MSN/msnuser@msn.com) 7. If you do not want to enter your password each time you sign into MSN, enter your password and then select the Save password box. 8. In the Number box, type the local access number for your area, as it would be dialed on the phone. Note: Please choose your access numbers carefully; you will not be reimbursed for telephone charges incurred while connected to MSN Internet Access. 9. On the Remote Access menu, click TCP/IP. 10. After Connect via:, select PPP. 11. After Configure:, select Using PPP Server. 12. Close the TCP/IP window. 13. When prompted to Save changes to the current configuration?, click Save. 14.
