Thank you for downloading the Connected Learning Community School Web Template. When installed, you will have a complete web solution for your schools or school districtsintranet or Internet site. This version of the web template has been upgraded to provide functionality with Microsoft's Internet Information Server (IIS) 4.0. Because of the technical differences between IIS 4.0 and the previous version 3.0, this version will only work with IIS 4.0. If you are not running IIS 4.0 and do not wish to upgrade, you must return to the web template website and download the previous version of this web template. System Requirements: Intel Pentium based computer 32mb RAM or more Windows NT Server 4.0 Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 3 (hhtp://www.microsoft.com/windows/downloads/contents/updates/nt4svcpk3/default.asp) Microsoft Internet Information Server 4.0 (from the Windows NT Server 4.0 Option Pack) (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/downloads/contents/products/nt4optpk/default.asp) Microsoft Frontpage 98 **Internet web browser SVGA video card **Any Internet web browser can be used for viewing the web template. Internet Explorer 4.01 is required to load the Windows NT Server 4.0 Option Pack. Preparing Your Windows NT Server for Web Template Installation: 1. Before beginning the installation process, verify that your Windows NT Server is configured with the software lsited above. 2. It is necessary to manually change the directory security settings of your IIS web server before attempting to install the web template. 3. Using your mouse follow this sequence: a) Start b) Programs c) Windows NT 4.0 Option Pack d) Microsoft Internet Information Server e) Internet Service Manager f) This will load the IIS management Console 4) From the left side of the split screen application., double click on Internet Information Server and your server name should appear underneath. 5) Right click on your server name and select "properties". 6) In the master properties dialog box, WWW services should appear, click the edit button. 7) Select the directory security tab and select the edit button under Anonymous Access and Authntication Control. 8) Two out of the three options should be selected, Allow Anonymous, and Basic and Clear Text. You will be asked if youa re sure that you want these options, click yes. 9) You can close all windows now as you are now prepared to start the template installation 10) Locate teh CLC.EXE file and execute it by double clicking on the file. 11) After some files are copied to your hard drive, the intitial welcome screen should appear. 12) Select next and next again on the following screen. 13) setup will automatically check for the installation directory of your web server. Leave the installation path at this default. 14) Setup will begin to copy more files for use with the installation. It is possible that you may receiving and error trying to overwrite the comcat.dll file. Should you receive this error, clickclick the "don't show me this error again"option and click yes. 15) Setup will ask what the default name of your web pages are. The standard name is default.htm. Verify that this is the case and click ok. 16) You are then asked id security settings are to Allow Anonymous and Basic Authentication. Click yes as that was performed in the steps above. 17) Read through the End User License Agreement (push page down until the end) Click yes if you agree to it, no if you do not. Upon clicking the yes button, the web tempate account. 18) Setup will scan for certain conditions on your web server and report back to you the results. If setup cannot find Frontpage 98 Explorer, you will be prompted to load it by pressing the number 10. This allows you to continue on. 19) Frontpage Explorer now loads and you will need to sign in using your administator login and password. 20) Press the continue button. 21) Setup copies the contents of the website, like the html pages, graphics etc. At this point, mouse movement and other activities should be resticted. 22) You are prompted for your schools information including School Name, City and State, and School Colors. Enter this information here once, and it is automatically propagated throughout the entire web template. 23) Setup will contine the automated installation process from here, until it is completed. This includes setting web permissions etc. 24) The final stupp to installation, is installing the Microsoft Data Access components. Install using the defaults that you are presented and the web template installation is complete.
