You can unicast Active Streaming format streams using the HTTP protocol with NetShow. Using HTTP allows clients to receive streams across a network firewall.
If you decide to use HTTP streaming, you should not run an HTTP server, for example Microsoft Internet Information Server, and NetShow Server on the same computer.
By default, HTTP streaming is disabled. To enable HTTP streaming, you must start the Windows NT Registry Editor and change the setting for HTTP streaming. Then stop and restart the NetShow Unicast service.
To enable HTTP streaming
The Run dialog box is displayed.
Registry Editor starts.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\nsunicast\parameters
Both the NetShow Unicast Manager service and the NetShow Program Manager service are stopped.
