When you use the same computer to monitor events and to stream data, monitoring adds to the load on the computer. To relieve the load caused by monitoring, you can set up a second computer that logs NetShow Server events. Before setting up the second computer, stop the monitoring service on the computer running NetShow Server.
To stop the monitoring service on NetShow Server
To log NetShow Server events from a second computer
If you installed NetShow Server in the default directory, Nsmon.exe is located in the directory C:\Program Files\Microsoft NetShow\Server.
nsmon /regserver:server_name
This command registers the monitoring service with Windows NT and directs the service to monitor the specified NetShow server.
Note that you can install the administration tools on the same computer used to run the monitoring service or on a third computer. If you already have a computer set up to remotely administer NetShow Server, you can configure and run event logging using that computer.
