Here is a brief description of the new and updated items published in this new draft of the "Designed for Windows Logo" Handbook:
The "Site-License" classification has been introduced to clarify which applications are and are not required to meet certain enterprise-related guidelines. It applies to any products offered for sale under a site-license. It does not apply to an application that is sold only at retail to consumers for a single user license, such as a game. This classification was added to streamline the design process for application developers whose products will never be used in a site-license situation.
Pointers to documentation and code samples contained within the Platform SDK have been provided.
While it crucial that applications comply with the requirement to use the installer, there are cases where doing so would place an undue burden on application developers. Please see the body of the document for full details.
More detail has been added to accessibility guidelines. Java applications are no longer exempt from complying with Accessibility guidelines.
Applications will not be required to use DirectX for multimedia capabilities for logo compliance.
Gaming applications are no longer required to register native data-file types.
