Welcome to the Submission Procedures for Microsoft^® Cluster Server! This document provides the information you need to assemble your Test Submission. When your hardware passes the Microsoft Windows Hardware Quality Labs (WHQL) log review, you will receive a Test Report which includes technical feedback on any problems found by the WHQL tests. When your hardware passes the WHQL tests you will receive the following:

• Inclusion of your product in the Cluster/System category of the Microsoft Hardware Compatibility List (HCL).
• The right to display the "Designed for Microsoft^® Windows NT^®" logo.

WHQL will contact you when your Test Submission is received. Allow 7 days self-test submissions to be processed. If you have technical questions about the Cluster/Server HCT tests, send e-mail to wolfhct@microsoft.com. If you send a Test Submission to WHQL and DO NOT receive confirmation e-mail, please contact whqlinfo@microsoft.com with the keyword STATUS REQUEST in your Subject line. Include the type of equipment, date shipped, and how to contact you in the message. Customers can also check the Submission Status page at http://www.microsoft.com/hwtest for the most current Submission related information.

Microsoft Windows Logo License and Testing Agreements

Complete and sign the "Designed for Microsoft Windows NT" Logo License Agreement and WHQL Testing Agreement. If your company has already completed these agreements, only "Exhibit A" of the Testing Agreement needs to be completed and included with your Test Submission.

Note: The following WHQL legal agreements, previously available through the Microsoft FAX Service, can now be downloaded from the WHQL web site at http://www.microsoft.com/hwtest/testkits/

• Microsoft Windows Logo License Agreement (Windows Logo Agreement.tif)
• Testing Agreement (Testing Agreement.tif)
• "Exhibit A" of the Testing Agreement (Exhibit A.tif)

Be sure to include the name of the agreement(s), and your phone and FAX numbers.

Verify Components are Logo'd:

• Server 1 and 2: Must be listed on the "System/Server" HCL and designated as SDG 1.0 or SDG 2.0
• Fibre Channel Adapter: Must be listed on the "Cluster/Fibre Channel Adapter" HCL and designated as PC 98, PC 99, SDG 1.0 or SDG 2.0
• SCSI Adapter: Must be listed on the "Cluster/SCSI Adapter" HCL and designated as PC 98, PC 99, SDG 1.0 or SDG 2.0
• RAID Controller: Must be listed on the "Cluster/RAID Controller" HCL and designated as PC 98, PC 99, SDG 1.0 or SDG 2.0
• RAID System (cabinet with built in controller): Must be listed on the "Cluster/RAID System" HCL and designated as PC 98, PC 99, SDG 1.0 or SDG 2.0
• JBOD Cabinets (no built-in controller): Must be listed on the "Storage/RAID" HCL and designated as PC 98, PC 99, SDG 1.0 or SDG 2.0

Note:All systems must have already completed the Server Class HCT tests and be listed on the HCL with a SDG 1.0 ro SDG 2.0 designation.

Test Your Product

Review the Cluster/Server Test Procedure Documents included in this kit and run the Cluster/Server HCTs on Microsoft^® Windows NT^® 4.0 Server Enterprise edition. The Cluster/Server HCTs are included on the Microsoft Windows® 2000 Hardware Compatibility Tests version 9.0 and Microsoft Windows® 98 and Windows NT® 4.0 Hardware Compatibility Tests version 9.1 CDs.

Create the electronic submission file (syssub.dat)

Use the WHQL Submission Assistant to create the systemsub.dat file required for each submission. It is available for downloaded from the test kits page: http://www.microsoft.com/hwtest/testkits

• Microsoft reserves the right to reject otherwise passing test results if the configuration information is not filled in completely and accurately in the submission assistant.
• You can use the configuration information recorded by Test Manager to help fill-out the submission information. Click 'Extract' in the system configuration screen of submission assistant. Verify all information for accuracy.
• Only one systemsub.dat file is needed per submission package.
• Systemsub.dat files can be read with the Notepad application.
• Systemsub.dat files can be loaded into submission assistant for review or reuse.
• The Submission Assistant can only be used for System, Cluster Server and Server submissions.

Assemble the Test Submission

1. Three (3) Submission Disks.
   1. Client Master (Contains complete testing logs).
   2. System Node #1 (Config.log and Install.log must be on the diskette).
   3. System Node #2 (Config.log and Install.log must be on the diskette).

   Note: Test Manager must be run using the cluster server option. The configuration information must be accurately entered into Test Manager.
   

2. Systemsub.dat file. Include with one set of the HCT logs or on a separate and clearly labeled disk.
3. Legal Agreements. Completed and signed: WHQL Testing Agreement, Logo License Agreement and Exhibit A.

Ship the Test Submission

Please send the Cluster/Server Test Submission and required fees to one of the following the authorized hardware testing sites:

Wire Transfer, payable to Microsoft Product Development Ltd., for the following amount:

60,000 Yen per submission for the intial test run.

Attach a copy of the wire transfer to your test submission and use the following information:

Note: Please put TS at the head of the transfer origin.
