Additional Notes About Microsoft Exchange Server WARNING: You must have previously installed Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5 Service Pack 2 in order to apply this patch. This document contains information not available in the Microsoft Exchange Server documentation, as well as information on changes that occurred after publication. For Help on using Write, press F1. Installing Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5 Post SP2 patch for the Exchange Server Information Store and Directory Services. STEP TO INSTALL ============== Download the compressed setup file appropriate for the server for your hardware platform. Select the appropriate files as indicated by the following list: Alpha AXP(TM) PSP2STRA.EXE Intel(R) PSP2STRI.EXE 1. Download appropriate file to a temporary location on the servers local hard drive. Example: English version for the Intel platform will be located at : ftp://ftp.microsoft.com/bussys/exchange/exchange-public/fixes/ /Exchg5.5/PostSP2/STR-fix/PSP2STRI.EXE 2. Unzip the file by typing the file name of the self-extracting archive at the command prompt. Example: The version for the Intel platform will be PSP2STRI. 3. Stop the Microsoft Exchange Directory Service. 4. For Intel and Alpha archives, a utility is included that helps automate the installation process of the hotfix. It is recommended to confirm the Consult HOTFIX.TXT in the archive for more information. If you prefer a manual installation, continue following the remaining steps listed below. 5. Go to the Exchange servers Bin directory Example: C:\EXCHSRVR\BIN\. 6. Rename the old file DSACTRNM.H to DSACTRNM.BAK. 7. Copy the new DSACTRNM.H into the Bin directory. 8. Rename the old file PERFDSA.DLL to PERFDSA.BAK. 9. Copy the new PERFDSA.DLL into the Bin directory. 10. Rename the old file DSACTRS.INI to DSACTRS.BAK. 11. Copy the new DSACTRS.INI into the Bin directory. 12. Rename the old file DSAMAIN.EXE to DSAMAIN.BAK. 13. Copy the new DSAMAIN.EXE into the Bin directory. 14. Rename the old file STORE.EXE to STORE.BAK. 15. Copy the new STORE.EXE into the Bin directory. 16. Rename the old file ISINTEG.EXE to ISINTEG.BAK. 17. Copy the new ISINTEG.EXE into the Bin directory. 18. Rename the old file NETIF.DLL to NETIF.BAK. 19. Copy the new NETIF.DLL into the Bin directory. 20. Go to the Exchange servers Res directory Example: C:\EXCHSRVR\RES\. 21. Rename the old file MDBMSG.DLL to MDBMSG.BAK. 22. Copy the new MDBMSG.DLL into the Res directory. 23. Rename the old file IMAP4EVT.DLL to IMAP4EVT.BAK. 24. Copy the new IMAP4EVT.DLL into the Res directory. 25. Go to the Exchange servers Windows System32 directory Example: C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\. 26. Rename the old file GAPI32.DLL to GAPI32.BAK. 28. Copy the new GAPI32.DLL into the System32 directory. 29. Rename the old file ESCPRINT.DLL to ESCPRINT.BAK. 30. Copy the new ESCPRINT.DLL into the System32 directory. 31. Restart the Microsoft Exchange services. If you have the Exchange symbols installed, replace the old DBG files with the newer version in the \symbols\dll directory.
