SYMPTOMS
========

When requests are performed using a web browser against IIS either remotely
or locally, the system may stop with the following STOP error message:

   0x0000000a (0x0000015a, 0x0000001c, 0x00000000, 0x80116bf4)
   IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL*** Address  has base at 80100000 -
   ntoskrnl.exe.

   Offset = 16bf4 in Afd.sys

The system event log reports the following error message:

   The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck...

CAUSE
=====

Afd contains an improper Irp handling routine.

RESOLUTION
==========

Obtain the fix mentioned below or wait for the next Windows NT service
pack.

This hotfix has been posted to the following Internet location. You can
download any of these self-extracting files from the following service:

 - Internet (anonymous FTP)
     ftp ftp.microsoft.com
     Change to the Bussys/Winnt/Winnt-public/Fixes/Usa/NT40/Hotfixes-
     postSP1/Afd-fix folder.
     Get Readme.txt (for instructions on downloading the hotfix).

STATUS
======

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Windows NT version 4.0,
Service Pack 1.

A supported fix is now available, but has not been fully
regression-tested and should be applied only to systems requiring this new
feature. Unless you are severely impacted by the lack of this feature,
Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next Service Pack that contains
this enhancement. Contact Microsoft Product Support Services for more
information.
