Encarta 96 Encyclopedia FTP Site, PSS\WorldEng directory readme.txt This directory contains self-extracting versions of the Yearbook Builder files for the World English version of Encarta 96 Encyclopedia. If you purchased Encarta96 outside of North America you likely have the World English Version of Encarta96, the opening screen of Encarta96 wil display the words, "World English Edition". FOR MACINTOSH OS: THESE ARE NOT THE CORRECT UPDATE FILES FOR THE MACINTOSH VERSION OF ENCARTA 96 ENCYCLOPEDIA! THE CORRECT UPDATE FILES ARE LOCATED IN THE PSS:US DIRECTORY. Some users have reported recurring problems downloading and integrating the Yearbook Builder files for Encarta 96 Encyclopedia. On some computer configurations, the .eyb files are getting corrupted during the download process, and Encarta cannot successfully integrate the files. The corrupt files are usually the same size as the originals, but portions of the files differ. We are working to isolate the exact cause of the problem. In the interim, we have determined that most users can successfully download the files in the form of self-extracting zip files instead of .eyb files. Therefore, we are making the files available in that form, for both the North American English (for the United States and Canada) and World English versions of Encarta Encyclopedia. This directory contains self-extracting versions of the Yearbook Builder files for the World English version of Encarta 96 Encyclopedia. To download and integrate the files: 1) Use FTP to download the desired file to your hard disk (e.g. nov95z.exe). 2) Using the Win95 Explorer or the Windows 3.x File Manager, double-click on the file icon. This generates a .eyb file from the .exe. 3) Copy the resulting .eyb file to your Encarta96/yearbook directory. (This step is optional as long as the .eyb file is on the same disk as the Encarta directory.) 4) Run Encarta Encyclopedia, and click on the Integrate button in the "Add New Months" screen in the Yearbook Builder feature. If the files are not in the Encarta\Yearbook directory, Encarta will find them on your hard disk. 5) You may then delete the nov95z.exe file (to save disk space).
